A Good Story
When was the last time you heard a good story? Probably yesterday. I am not talking about gossip, because that’s just plain wrong. I am talking about the story the really made you think. A story that had you go there and actually empathize with the person who was sharing it. A story that compelled you to want to know what the outcome was. Did the person survive the CPR after coding? Was it a fatality or did he come back from the dead? I think you know what I mean. We always gravitate to what stories interest us the most. If it doesn’t resonate with us, we won’t go there. I mean why should we right? When was the last time you watched a movie that you didn’t like? You probably turned it off and went and did something else. I hope? Life is all about stories. As I get older, I have come to realize that the only thing that truly matters in this life is that my story is one that someone would like to tell. Have you ever told someone else’s story? I have. I just love stories about people who have survived through insurmountable odds. Just when it looked like they were not going to make it, they held on just a little bit longer and just around the next curve was their big break through. A good story is something that spurs you on to the end, one that never allows you to put the book down or one that keeps you up at night wanting to know how it will all end. Your life is like that and it is far from over. The creator of the universe is not done with you. I don’t care if you are 4 or 99 years old. You still have a story to tell and someone’s life to help change. When we begin to put our focus on other’s instead of always being stuck in our own stuff…is when God shows up.
The End can be the beginning.
Just when you thought you couldn’t hold on any longer is quite often when you are this close to your breakthrough. We can’t always see it at times because we become so wrapped up in our own little struggles, but freedom is closer than you think. You may have heard me say that when the struggle seems the hardest is when the blessing will be the biggest. The night is always darkest at dawn when the sun is about to shine. When we become willing to share our struggles and triumphs with others is when they too can begin to see that we are simply human as we are. Walls begin to come down and deeper relationship are formed.
Let’s talk about perennials. Perennials are plants that you plant in the spring and that come back every year if properly cared for. Two summers ago, I made the decision to purchase two banana plants. They did really well and I thought that I took the right measures to ensure their success of making it through the cold even right down to bringing them in so the frost wouldn’t kill them. Well, to no avail, it just seemed like whatever I did, they were dying. I finally put them back outside in the weather and had pretty much given up on them back in April when we were getting very warm temperatures. It wasn’t until about July that I put them outdoors and began to see any signs of life. I mean I had trimmed them back to the dirt and still nothing. If you were to look at them now you would think, no way, these plants have always been healthy. One is about 2 feet tall and the other 3 feet. All I did was give them a little water and fertilizer. God brought the sun and warmth. Just like these banana plants, your story is not over and yet to be told. Your story is a big part of who you are. You don’t have to own the bad, but you can certainly share the good. Life is a story waiting to be lived and then told.
How did you get to where you are at?
Look at where you are. I bet you are better off then you were 1 year ago, 5 or even 10 years. If not, why? You don’t have to explain because it might be too painful the important issue is that you are here now ready to make more of it. Ready to thrust forward into your new beautiful future. You are ready to put all excuses aside as I have and begin to live your life with unyielding passion. Ready to take back control of your future and fortune and ready to begin to implement the changes that will be needed to do that. Just as I am, so will you be…successful. I BELIEVE IT! Now pick up your phone and begin to dictate what you did yesterday. Begin to journal it. That’s all you have to do. You have already lived it whether good or bad. You can’t change it, but you can use it to help others realize they too are important and have an awesome future ahead of them. You have the job that you have and the family you have because this is your story. Would you give up on your family? I don’t think so. Would you give up your job? Not without another source of income. What ever you have been through be like that banana plant of ours and say to the world that you are here to make a statement. You are here to be an encouragement to others even when you don’t feel like it. If we always did things when we felt like it none of us would ever get anything done. You say well it is just too painful to share my story. I can’t seem to get out of my own way. Well this is exactly how you will get out of your own way, by “Sharing Your Story and Living Your Dream”, Now!!!
